About Trevs extended Family
I started this family tree in September 2006 mainly to trace my wife's family.
It started easily enough as her maiden name DUNCOMBE was fairly easy to trace.
I thought my family name COLLINS would prove more difficult as it is a common
name. Little did I know that somewhere between my father and his father the
surname was corrupted from COLLENS and that sent me down a whole new route.
Most of the family photos on my wife's side come from the wedding day 1 May
2005 of our daughter Sarah. Other photos have been gleaned from other
researchers of the Duncombe family and websites dedicated to the name and
colonisation of Tasmania.
Many thanks go to Maureen Martin in Australia and Mike Levon who have allowed
me to use their invaluable research into the DUNCOMBE family before we get
into the 20th Century. Hopefully they can learn a little of subsequent events
from this website where that family is concerned. Thanks also to those
researchers who have shared their trees, photos and information with me so
that this website has grown as big as it is. Sadly, not all my contacts have
afforded me the same co-operation.
Most of the current DUNCOMBE family photos were taken at the wedding of Sarah
Collins to Daniel Peake on 1 May 2005 at the Chilston Park Hotel in Kent.
Thanks to this project I have made contact with first cousins I've never met
as well as their families, cousins I haven't seen for 30 or 40 years and a
cousin in Australia who, hopefully, will put me in contact with yet another
cousin in New Zealand that I've never met.
It has been great fun to get 10,000 names in this tree over a 10 month period
but now I need to get some leaves on the many branches that have been created.
Happy browsing to anyone who bothers to read all this and do let me know any
thoughts you may have on the site as a whole, positive or negative.
Regards.
